- Increased Sensitivity to Sun: Retinoids can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. It's essential to use sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using Retinol.
- Possible Skin Irritation: Although unlikely, some individuals with extremely sensitive skin may experience redness, flakiness, or dryness when first using Retinol for the first time. These side effects typically diminish with continued use. We have mitigated these effects by combining Retinol with a milder form (Retinyl Palmitate), reducing the likelihood of irritation.
Apply a small amount to face and neck in the evening as part of your skin care regimen. Use after cleansing, before Skin Detox and serums if applicable and before your Annique Rooibos Night Cream.
Use sun protection daily.
Start by using the Annique Rooibos Retinol Night Treatment 2-3 times a week at night, for 4 weeks. Gradually increase your use thereafter to a daily basis.
Guidelines for Using Retinol as a Night Treatment:
- Apply at night: Retinol is most effective when applied at night, as sunlight can degrade its efficacy.
- Use sunscreen daily: Because retinoids can increase sun sensitivity, it’s crucial to apply sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
- Start slowly: If you are prone to sensitivity begin with applying it every second or third day to allow your skin to get used to it gradually. Increase frequency and concentration as tolerated.
- Patch test before use
- Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Do not use on broken skin
- Avoid contact with eyes
